Family feeds stray ginger kitty once, the cat immediately adopts them, running into their house and refusing to leave: 'Poor baby was severely malnourished and practically starving when she came over'

We have said this a hundred times before, but it seems like some people are actually still surprised. Cats understand human kindness, and they use it for their own benefit shamelessly. It's true. Humans don't adopt their cats. Cats adopt their humans. And cats do it based on a set of very simple calculations. Show them kindness… and you become their target. All it takes is one time. Feed a stray cat once, and it will know your kindness, and after that… well, don't be surprised if they end up strolling into your home. 

This family was surprised. They did exactly what we said. They fed a stray cat. And they did it only once. But the cat was on the lookout for a furrever home, and once it spotted a couple kind humans, that was the end of it. Just like that, she waltzed into their home and into their hearts, and she will never be hungry again.

  • That really is all that it takes. We think we'll be warning people forever, and they still won't listen to us. And you know what? Maybe that is a good thing. Maybe it helps the cat distribution system continue to work as smoothly as it does.

  • We can't believe we have to say this, but you very obviously did the right thing by taking this cat in. She chose you! It was meant to be! Don't question your decision for a minute. Just be thankful and allow this itty bitty creature to bring warmth and love into your home.
